Jacqueline Marie “Jackie” Evancho was born on April
9, 2000 to Lisa and Michael Evancho, who married in 1997. As the second child in her family, she has an older brother Jacob, a younger brother Zachary, and a younger sister Rachel. She was raised Catholic, attended Eden Hall Upper Elementary School from 2009 to 2010, but since she began to tour and record, she is cyber schooled.
She has interested in singing when she was 8 years old. At that time, she saw the film version of musical The Phantom of The Opera, and began to sing the songs around the family home. America's Got Talent (AGT) was not the only singing or talent contest that she has entered, before AGT, she has entered the Kean Idol, a local talent contest in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (She resides in Richland Township, a suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) in 2008 and 2009, has competed in Las Vegas in the 15th annual U.S.A. World Showcase Talent Competition in 2009. She got the first runner up in those three competitions. She also has competed and won in the Golden Ribby Award – WonderworldTV in April 2009 and the Talent Quest TV Show in June 2009 (both in Massachusetts, USA).
Before she competed in America's Got Talent, she joined David Foster's “Hitman Talent Search Contest” in 2009. She caught his attention after she sent her video to him. She came to the first runner up. In October 2009 she sang in the "David Foster & Friends" concert at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey and in November 2009, she released her independent debut album, Prelude to a Dream.
Although she has competed in many competitions, it is America's Got Talent which has made her more famous, even she just finished second to singer Michael Grimm. Jackie, who joined AGT on the fifth season, has an unusual voice when she sings, that is different from kids that are in the same age as her. Her voice is so mature and really good to hear. "It's very unusual for a young child to have a voice that sounded so rich and developed," said Christopher Hahn, General Director of the Pittsburgh Opera. Songs like O mio babbino caro (Giacomo Puccini), Time To Say Goodbye (Andrea Bocelli), Pie Jesu (Andrew Lloyd Webber), and Ave Maria (Charles Gounod) are sung really well and are heard really good when she sings them.
Since she joined AGT, she has been performing for many events and concerts. She performed the American national anthem at Pittsburgh Pirates baseball games and at various events in 2009 and 2010. In February 2011, she performed her first full-length concert, in Houston Texas with the Houston Chamber Choir. On June 4, 2011, she performed as a guest artist at the season finale of Britain's Got Talent. Jackie sang in two David Foster & Friends concerts on October
19–20, 2011, in Tokyo, where she also appeared in several Japanese
television interviews. Also, on February 2, 2012, Evancho sang at the U.S. National Prayer Breakfast before President Obama and congressional and international leaders.
Jackie Evancho has released total of 5 albums, which are Prelude to a Dream (2009), O Holy Night (2010), Dream With Me (2011), Dream With Me in Concert (2011), and Heavenly Christmas (2011).
I am a big fan of Jackie Evancho because of her voice that can make me feel so special because I can hear her voice. She also looks so humble and polite that everyone can smile and feel peace when they see her pretty face. Her voice is phenomenal. That's what I love about her.
Jackie Evancho might be young, but she has the most wonderful talent that makes her special and we, of course, should appreciatet it. Her voice has been enchanting the earth, and no one denies. She has shown to the world that she's no ordinary girl, at all.
